午前中、ホジャンドで外国人登録したあと、50kmほど西のイスタラブシャンへ。ホテルは見た目新しくて部屋も広いが、何と水道も電気もない。料金は10ソモニ（3ドルちょっと）。結局、旧市街で出会った男の子の家庭に泊めてもらうことになった。タジキスタンではよく泊まって行けといわれる。この後の旅行も半分以上民家にタダでとめてもらうことになる。
